AF&Y Introduces Marquesa Plus Yarn

Chapel Hill, N.C.-based American Fibers & Yarns Co. (AF&Y) has introduced a new yarn Marquesa Plush to its Marquesa Luxury family of products. The new yarn was developed to offer extra softness and cover with the aesthetics of an acrylic and the durability of a polyolefin when used for residential and contract velvet and chenille fabrics.

"Based on customer feedback, we realized there was a need in the marketplace for a yarn with the durable characteristics of traditional olefins, while maintaining the hand, luster and look of an acrylic in other words, a high-performance acrylic replacement," said Michael Apperson, CEO.

According to the company, the yarn meets all requirements for seam slippage, tensile strength, pilling, abrasion and colorfastness; and offers properties such as low specific gravity, stain resistance, bleach compatibility, durability, ease of care and resistance to fading.
