AFA Holds Annual Membership Meeting

AFA Holds Annual Membership MeetingThe American Floorcovering Alliance (AFA), Dalton, Ga., recently held its annual Membership Meeting at the Dalton Golf and Country Club. The meeting agenda included election of board members; awards presentations; a speech by Marilyn Helms, Ph.D., Dalton State College (DSC); and a door-prize giveaway.Re-elected to one-year terms on the Board of Directors were: Jim Shaheen, Shaheen Carpet Mills, president; Don Henson, DyeTech Inc., vice president; Bill Cosby, The Sample Works, secretary/treasurer; Greg Brock, Quality Finishing of Georgia Inc.; Randall Coker, Northwest Carpets Inc.; Greely Joiner, Greely Joiner LLC; and Bucky McCamy, GrassTex Inc. Also elected were: David Pope, BB&T, to fill the seat vacated by Sues Alexander, BB&T; and industry consultant Bruce Elliston to finish the unexpired term of Carolyn Butler, Carpeton Mills. Continuing board members are Ed Harof, Wilcom America; Lamar Brown, Lessco; and Will Robison, Allied Insurance Agency.Carpeton MillsandMarketing Alliance received a 20-year Membership Award. Ten-year Membership Awards were presented to Advance Tufting; Looptex; and Ellison, Boshell, Salmon, Tuller, Kelley LLC. AFA presented its Member of the Year Award to Americhem, and honored Don Henson as Director of the Year.

Helms talked about DSCs partnership with AFA to prepare students to enter the floor covering industry. Among other activities, students accompany AFA to international trade shows. December 2003
