Pressurex Provides Parallelism Between Rolls

Pressurex® from Sensor Products Inc. (SPI), East Hanover, N.J., is used to measure roll contact pressure in contact machines and can assess compression magnitude between any two surfaces. Pressurex also ensures parallelism between nipped rolls during roll changing and routine downtime, according to the company. Pressurex comes in the form of a large, thin sheet. It is placed between impacting surfaces, where it changes color instantly. The color intensity is proportional to the amount of force applied. Precise pressure measurement can be determined by comparing the sensor film to a color calibration chart or by using one of several imaging systems provided by SPI.
