Ticona Introduces Celanex PBT Polymer For Spunbonds

Ticona Introduces Celanex®PBT Polymer For SpunbondsSummit, N.J.-based Ticona, a Celanese AG business, has introduced Celanex® 2000-K polybutylene terephthalate (PBT), suitable for use in selected homogenous and bicomponent spunbond applications.Designed to replace or be blended with polyethylene terephthalate (PET), Celanex 2000-K produces finer denier fibers and fabrics that shrink less during processing than those made with PET, according to Ticona. The polymer offers melt-spinning conditions similar to those of polypropylene, with melt processing temperatures between 260°C and 280°C. Ticona can tailor the viscosity of its PBT products to match customer requirements.December 2002
