Clariant Develops Polyamide Antimicrobial

Clariant Corp., Charlotte, N.C., has introduced Sanitized® BC 21-41, a proprietary, silver-based antimicrobial. The product was developed for use in the manufacture of man-made fibers such as polyamide and polypropylene, as well as coated fabrics and plastic films. It can be dispersed in the polymer melt prior to fiber or film formation processes, or blended into resins and lattices used for textile coating and laminating.According to Clariant, the product is ideally suited to carpet backings, wall coverings, shower curtains and drapery fabrics.
