Woolrich Inc., Woolrich, Pa., has named Dave King manager of fabric administration and production planning of the Woolrich Woolen Mill, while Ron Yeaton has been named manager, finishing. The company has also appointed Tim Joseph to the position of catalog director.

James G. Berges , president of St. Louis-based Emerson Electric Co., has been appointed to the Board of Directors of PPG Industries Inc., Pittsburgh.

DyStar, Charlotte, N.C., has named Uwe G. Halder president and CEO of DyStar L.P. The company has also promoted Stephan Gerlich to the position of vice president, sales, for the United States and Canada.

Edward Brooks Stevens , chairman of the Board of Ames Textile Corp., was recently honored by the American Textile History Museum, Lowell, Mass., for his 25 years of dedicated service to the museum.



The American Textile History Museum, Lowell, Mass., has named the following new staff members: Kathleen Brown , marketing and communications manager; Rosalyn Malin , director of development; Paula Lochhead , visitor services educator; Melanie Sanford , technician; and Howard Sutcliffe , Mellon Foundation fellow.
Deirdre Windsor , director and chief conservator of the Textile Conservation Center at the museum, is one of 27 Americans to win the 104th annual Rome Competition conducted by the American Academy in Rome.

Dalloz Safety, Reading, Pa., formerly Willson® Safety, has appointed Sharon Platt to the position of marketing communications manager for its MBU Americas industrial and construction channels.

Nordson Corp., Duluth, Ga., has appointed James E. DeVries as vice president, nonwovens systems group. He will manage the company’s nonwovens disposables business worldwide, including marketing and sales activities.

Gerber Scientific Inc., South Windsor, Conn., has appointed Marc T. Giles to the position of president, Gerber Technology. Fredric K. Rosen , who led Gerber Technology for the past 12 years, will now serve as chairman of the subsidiary.

Fred Dooley was recently named Citizen of the Year by the Association of Georgia’s Textile, Carpet and Consumer Products Manufacturers (GTMA), Atlanta. Dooley is a maintenance technician at Milliken & Company’s Humphrey Plant, Toccoa, Ga.

Dennis C. Kovacs has been appointed general manager at the Laurinberg, N.C., facility of Renaissance Industries, Toronto, Ohio.

Luther M. Myers , president and owner of Textile Innovators Corp., has been named chairman of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Committee D12 on Soaps and Other Detergents, West Conshohocken, Pa. Myers has most recently served as secretary for D12.

Robert E. Brenner has recently joined Air Quality Sciences Inc., Atlanta, as director of sales for the Greenguard™ program.

WestPoint Stevens Inc., West Point, Ga., has elected financial specialist Alfred C. Eckert III to its Board of Directors.

TSI Inc., St. Paul, Minn., has appointed David Freeman as Southeastern regional sales manager for its Process Instruments Division. Freeman will be responsible for sales and service of the company’s light industrial products.



Polo Ralph Lauren Corp., New York City, has named Gerald M. Chaney to the position of senior vice president and CFO. The company has also appointed John Mehas as president and CEO of Club Monaco, the Canadian-based international retailer recently acquired by Polo.

ABB Automation Inc., Norwalk, Conn., has named Thomas L. Batke head of its Textile Industries Group based in Atlanta. The company also appointed Brian Baldwin to the position of marketing manager.
