The business was formed in response to the fashion and high-performance apparel businesses look toward smarter, more technically-diverse textiles high-tech fabrics designed for clothing to fit our active lifestyles, said Brian Gallagher, marketing and sales director. He continued, the innovative expertise of DuPont Inova delivers featherweight, versatile and multi-functional fabrics to satisfy the increasing demand for more lifestyle-appropriate apparel. In announcing the new business, the company also introduced its first full line of fabrics called Generation 1. The product line is comprised of three multi-faceted categories and the Lycra brand is to figure prominently in the launch of the concept. The first category is the Multifuze line of fabrics, in which tissue-light sheets are fused to fine, breathable fabrics to form weightless layers. The second category is called Enviroreactive, which comprises temperature-sensitive textiles that were developed for strenuous activity. The third category, Metropolis, integrates traditional constructions with innovative material technology to produce a new generation of fabrics for urban attire.Generation 1 was introduced by DuPont Inova at Premiere Vision in Paris (see Classic Revival At Premiere Vision, ATI, this issue).
