Gold Medal Adds Ecotec Socks To Product Line

Gold Medal Design Studio, New York, and Fildi/USA, Hickory, N.C., recently announced the launch of a new line of socks made with Ecotec the Moral Fiber. Gold Medals new line will be sold under the Ecotec, Everlast, Oscar De La Renta, Lugz and Clear Creek labels.Ecotec yarns, developed by Fildi/USA, are spun from the recovered cotton fibers of newly made sweaters, socks, shirts and other natural fiber products. The environmentally sensitive process not only cuts manufacturers production time and conserves land, water and energy, but also produces brightly colored yarns that combine cottons softness with the durability of todays advanced fibers. (See Quality Fabric of the Month, ATI August 1998).Gold Medal plans to take its top-selling styles and add another five to 10 silhouettes under the Ecotec brand. We are excited to introduce Ecotec to our customers because were convinced that Ecotecs points of difference will resonate with consumers who care about our environment and the concept of Moral Fiber will help us sell more socks, said Ira Wertenteil, president and founder of Gold Medal Design Studio.
