Suominen Introduces Biolace® Skin Nonwovens For Home Spa Applications
Suominen Corp. — a Finland-based supplier of nonwovens, wet wipes and flexible packaging for consumer products — has debuted Biolace® Skin as part of its new Home Spa range of nonwoven substrates for use in cosmetic applications including facial sheet masks, cosmetic pads, patches and exfoliation sheets.
Suominen worked together with Austria-based Lenzing AG to develop the product, which incorporates TENCEL® Skin — a fiber that Lenzing developed specifically for substrates used in face masks for skin care applications. Lenzing reports the fiber features a unique nano-fibril structure that provides optimum absorbency and compatibility with lotion. According to Suominen, Biolace Skin features a smooth and silky touch; flexibility; good lotion management; and high strength, enabling it to hold its shape.
Suominen notes that nonwovens for home spa applications are considered the next-generation skin care category in Europe and the Americas, and that the facial sheet mask is a rapidly expanding nonwovens category in Asia’s cosmetics sector.
