Georgia Department Of Labor Will Host Mass Recruitment On March 5 For Textile Manufacturer Opening In Murray County
ATLANTA — February 18, 2014 — The Northwest Region of Georgia was a bustling manufacturing center prior to the recession that began in December 2007. By the time the recession ended in June 2009, the 15-county area had lost more than 12,000 manufacturing jobs, 16 percent of the industry. The job losses continued even though the recession was technically over.
However, the region is slowly recovering. There were 59,384 manufacturing jobs in the region during the second quarter of 2013, which is the latest data available. While that is far fewer than the region¹s 74,540
manufacturing jobs at the beginning of the recession, it represents a growth of 827 jobs since the low point of 58,557 jobs in the first quarter of 2012.
The slow recovery is on course to continue as approximately 200 more manufacturing jobs are being created in Murray County. The Mattex Group, a Dubai-based textile manufacturer, is opening its first American manufacturing facility in Eton. Mattex USA will produce carpet backing.
The Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) will host a mass recruitment for Mattex USA Wednesday, March 5, in Chatsworth. It will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Murray County Parks and Recreation Center, 651 Hyden Tyler Road.
Job openings include those in managerial, technical, maintenance, and production. Applicants are encouraged to bring resumes and dress appropriately to increase their chances for employment.
This recruitment provides an excellent opportunity for workers with manufacturing experience to get back in the manufacturing industry.
Meanwhile, the company has upper-level jobs to be filled immediately. They include: an information technology (IT) administrator, a weaving and beaming department manager, a manager for the extrusion department, multi-craft maintenance technicians, and maintenance mechanics.
The job order numbers are as follows: IT administrator, 8143367; weaving and beaming department manager, 8153564; extrusion department manager, 8153565; multi-craft maintenance technicians, 8157328; and maintenance mechanics, 8157354.
