Cotton Outlook Figures Continue To Indicate Oversupply, Despite Recovering Consumption
BIRKENHEAD, United Kingdom — January 25, 2013 — Adjustments to Cotton Outlook's world supply and
demand estimates during the past month implyan addition to world stocks of 3,529,000 tonnes at the
end of the 2012/13 season, compared to 3,617,000 indicated a month ago.
The global production forecast has been raised by 173,000 tonnes, owing principally to increases for China and some smaller producers, which more than offset lower production figures for the United States, Pakistan and Turkey. Global consumption has been revised upwards by 261,000 tonnes.Changes are attributable to India and Turkey.
Initial production and consumption forecasts for the 2013/14 season will be published next month.
