HeiQ, Huntsman Launch Pure By HeiQ
Switzerland-based HeiQ Materials AG — a manufacturer of silver composite additives and
high-performance, sustainable textile finishes — and Singapore-based textile chemicals and dyes
supplier Huntsman Textile Effects (TE) have launched Pure by HeiQ, a silver-based antimicrobial
treatment for textiles and apparel.
Pure by HeiQ features a unique silver microcomposite technology that uses a minimal amount of silver while offering effective, permanent odor and freshness control. The finish may be applied topically using both pad and exhaust applications to all types of fibers, textiles and fabrics, excluding wool. The treatment also may be added to the spin melt via masterbatch during fiber manufacturing for a highly durable effect. The antimicrobial treatment does not require high-temperature curing; does not negatively affect hydrophilicity, hand or breathability; and is compatible with fluorochemical finishes and moisture-management agents, according to the companies.
Pure by HeiQ is suitable for home textiles, medical and technical textiles, and a range of garments. It has been shown to be effective in preventing discoloration tendencies, and can withstand more than 100 home launderings, the companies report.
The antimicrobial treatment has received bluesign® and Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 certification for use in textile applications and consumer products.
