Formax Installs Karl Mayer Malitronic® Multiaxial Machine

Formax Multiaxial Reinforcements — a United Kingdom-based manufacturer of carbon fiber and specialty reinforcements — has installed a 100-inch Malitronic® Multiaxial machine manufactured by Karl Mayer Malimo Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH, Germany. The machine is running at full capacity, and according to Formax, will increase its glass production capacity by 25 percent.

Features of the Malitronic Multiaxial machine include: a batching unit for producing 100-inch rolls of fabric weighing up to 4 tons; optimal weft insertion; layer fixation; and an average speed that is double that of standard 50-inch machines, thereby providing an equivalent capacity of 4 by 50-inch glass multiaxials.

Formax installed the machine in its 500-square-meter renovated production facility, which features modern temperature and humidity controls. Trained operators and support staff are on hand to manage the machine's daily operations.
