Amerbelle Textiles To Close
Vernon, Conn.-based Amerbelle Textiles LLC — a commission dyer, coater and finisher of fabrics for
technical textile and other applications — has announced it will shutter its facility and cease
operations in the next few months, affecting 70 employees.
Owner Douglas Rimsky said the company has been impacted by the poor economy and overseas competition with reduced labor costs and environmental restrictions, and no longer has sufficient volume to operate profitably.
Amerbelle Textiles was founded in 1936 and purchased in 2004 by Rimsky, who also owns Lucerne Textiles Inc., a 91-year old textile converter based in New York City.
