George Gil, President Of Chase Machine & Engineering

WEST WARWICK, R.I. — January 5, 2012 — George G. Gil, 72, passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2011 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. He was President of Chase Machine & Engineering, a worldwide leader in the manufacture of custom web handling equipment. George started his career at Chase Machine when he was 16 years old and, in 1984, bought the company. Under his leadership, Chase Machine grew from a manufacturer of equipment for the textile industry to complete machine and manufacturing system design for the medical, converting, filtration, textile, and geotextile industries. 

George was the loving husband of Maria Gil, who is Executive Vice President at Chase Machine, and father of Guy Gil, the company's national sales manager, and his wife Linda. He also leaves his mother, Bertha, and a daughter, Monica and her husband David.

George was passionate about his business and considered his employees to be family. He always said, "I am a happy man, I have a wonderful life" and that is a source of comfort to his family. Contributions in George's memory may be made to Saint Elizabeth Community, One Saint Elizabeth Way, East Greenwich, RI 02818, where he volunteered for many years.
