Shalag US To Expand Facility In Oxford, N.C., Add 25 Jobs
Shalag US Inc. — the North American division of Israel-based Shalag Industries Ltd., a global
supplier of nonwoven fabrics for hygiene and wipes applications — will invest $15.5 million to
expand its plant in Oxford, N.C. The investment is expected to add 25 jobs to the company's
workforce of 40 people.
Shalag Industries announced in 2009 that it would open a U.S. plant (see " Shalag Industries To Open Nonwovens Plant In Oxford, N.C.," www. TextileWorld.com, Oct. 13, 2009) and production commenced in October 2010. The current expansion includes the addition of a second thermobonding production line that will double the plant's production capacity to 11,000 tons of nonwoven fabrics annually. Following expected completion of the expansion in October 2012, Shalag Industries' capacity will total 33,000 tons annually, according to Jeff Harari, CEO and general manager of Shalag US Inc.
The expansion was facilitated in part by a One North Carolina Fund grant in the amount of $75,000.
