Albany, N.Y.-based silicones and advanced materials provider Momentive Performance Materials Inc. reports it has developed a line of addition curable room temperature vulcanizate (RTV) and liquid silicone rubber (LSR) products that are suitable for healthcare textile coatings, among other applications. According to the company, the products offer water repellency, high chemical resistance, good adhesion, high elongation, weatherability and low ageing. The RTVs and LSRs also may be suitable for next-to-skin and food applications, and may be eligible to comply with standards such as the Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 because they do not contain added organotins, phthalates, formaldehyde or solvents.

Products in the LSR range include Silopren* LSR 7000 series; StatSil* LSR with antimicrobial protection; Silopren oil-bleeding LSR with ultra-low compression set; Addisil* ultraviolet-curable LSR; and fiber-reinforced LSR developed jointly between Momentive and the Germany-based Woco Group.
