Madeira Incorporates Recycled Polyester Into Polyneon #40 Thread
Laconia, N.H.-based Madeira USA Ltd. — a producer of embroidery threads for the decorated apparel
and home fashion industries — has begun using recycled polyester in the production of its Polyneon
#40 100-percent polyester embroidery thread. Polyneon #40 is a durable, smooth-running, bleachable
thread suitable for embroidering uniforms, safety garments and commercial linens; and comprises a
specially developed raw material that eliminates looping, puckering and thread breaks, according to
Madeira.
The company reports that extensive testing has demonstrated that the addition of recycled content does not change the thread's quality, color consistency, performance or price.
"Madeira's goal is to have 30% of the raw material used in the production of Polyneon be recycled materials. We are committed to bringing more and more recycled polyester into the production of our Polyneon embroidery thread," said Martin Lohe, commercial director, logistics, manufacturing and information technology, Madeira. "We feel this percentage will allow us to keep our prices stable and maintain an extensive range of colors."
