Acme-McCrary To Open Distribution And Warehouse Facility In Siler City, N.C.
Acme-McCrary Corp., Asheboro, N.C. — a manufacturer of private-label women's legwear and seamless
activewear — will invest $500,000 to consolidate its seven distribution and warehouse facilities
located in Asheboro and Siler City, N.C., to a 387,000-square-foot facility in Siler City.
Approximately 100 employees from the Asheboro locations and 42 employees at the existing Siler City
facility will be relocated to the new site. The consolidation will begin in December and is
scheduled to be completed in April 2012.
In business since 1909, Acme-McCrary's weekly production exceeds 1.3 million pairs of hosiery and 96,000 pieces of seamless garments. The company expects to keep an inventory valued at $35 million at the new facility, which also will include all packaging operations.
Acme-McCrary has received a financial incentive package from the Chatham County Board of Commissioners and Siler City's Town Board that is contingent on the company's satisfying obligations for job creation and retention through 2016.
