FibeRio Ships Cyclone FE 1.1 System To Czech Nanotechnology Firm

McAllen, Texas-based FibeRio Technology Corp., a manufacturer of nanofiber production systems that feature its Forcespinning™ technology, has shipped a Cyclone FE 1.1 industrial-scale continuous nanofiber production system to Czech Republic-based Kertak Nanotechnology, a manufacturer of ceramic nanofibers for applications such as batteries, fuel cells, catalysts, solar cells and cosmetics.

Forcespinning technology differs from traditional electrospinning technologies in that it uses centrifugal force to manufacture nanofibers. According to FibeRio, its proprietary technology increases productivity by an order of magnitude at one-fourth the cost of traditional technologies. The Cyclone FE 1.1 — the company's first industrial-scale system utilizing the technology — can be used for both melt- and solution-spinning of nanofibers.

"As a leader in ceramic nanofibers, we have been searching for a way to provide our customers with more cost effective products and to meet the rapidly increasing demand for this advanced material. We are proud to now have that capability with the Cyclone FE 1.1," said Daniel Mozis, CEO, Kertak.

"Now that we have scaled Forcespinning™ technology to industrial volumes, we will continue to ramp up both the size and output of our Cyclone FE product line," said Ellery Buchanan, CEO, FibeRio.
