ITMA To Return To Milan In 2015
ITMA's most recent European edition, which was held in Munich, Germany, in 2007, filled approximately 102,000 square meters of exhibition space and drew around 120,000 visitors. ITMA 2011 will take place in Barcelona, Spain, Sept. 22-29, 2011.
Sandro Salmoiraghi, president of ITMA 2015 host association, the Milan-based Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers (ACIMIT), said ITMA is "a great event which represents a success for the whole textile machinery sector in Italy. This is a just recognition for a sector, represented by our Association, which has been a global leader in the production and exporting of textile machinery for years. It will be a great opportunity to reaffirm the quality of Italian products, which are well known for their high level of technology content, reliability and creativity."
Despite the recent global economic crisis, Italy's textile machinery sector has maintained its international market share. In 2009, the sector generated revenues worth approximately 2 billion euros. The country's textile machinery exports account for 78 percent of its total sales and represent shipments to around 130 countries.
Salmoiraghi believes that Milan's hosting of ITMA will positively affect Italy's textile sector in its entirety. "In Italy, we can count on a textile industry which has stood up to the crisis and is evolving. Italian textile and fashion sector has a turnover of 46 billion euros, which is 28 percent of the European total in terms of revenues, and 43 percent in terms of companies involved. ITMA can represent a driving force for an even more profitable synergy between the various segments of entrepreneurs making up textile industry."
