Régitex USA Opens Plant In Brodnax, Va
Quebec-based Régitex Inc. -- a manufacturer of ring-spun and open-end yarns for industrial,
apparel, high-performance and home furnishings applications -- has invested $1.5 million to
establish a U.S. manufacturing operation in Brodnax, Va., creating 60 jobs. The subsidiary, Régitex
USA LLC, will focus on meeting market demands and developing new, high-quality yarns customized to
client specifications.
Régitex purchased and upgraded ring-spinning equipment and a plant formerly belonging to Brodnax Mills Inc. -- a specialty yarn manufacturer that recently closed as a result of slow business -- and retained most of the company's employees. Régitex USA has been operating since June 29. Rick Martignetti, Régitex Inc.'s vice president, sales and marketing, is serving as president of the U.S. operation, and Sylvain Fecteau, Régitex Inc.'s vice president, production, is working onsite to integrate the company with its Canadian parent.
"We are very pleased and excited to make Virginia our home base in the United States," Martignetti said. "Virginia offers manufacturers an unparalleled advantage of a highly skilled and motivated workforce, central location, excellent transportation facilities and low-energy costs. Régitex Inc. and Régitex USA are committed to continue providing quality, service and innovative yarns to our customers. We thank all of our valued customers and suppliers for their continued support."
The project received $150,000 in Tobacco Region Opportunity Funds approved by the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission. The Virginia Economic Development Partnership also provided assistance in securing the project.
