Wilmington, Del.-based Optimer Brands has introduced dri release® Tencel® fabric, a patented blend of drirelease fiber -- featuring FreshGuard® moisture-management, odor-eliminating technology -- with Austria-based Lenzing AG's Tencel regenerated cellulosic fiber. According to Optimer, the fabric -- comprising a 88-percent polyester/12-percent Tencel blend -- wicks moisture away from the skin and dries four times faster than cotton, and offers a luxurious drape and soft feel.

"We see it as a great combination between the high performance attributes of polyester and the comfort, moisture management and sustainability properties of Tencel."

Labtex Co. Ltd., a professional fabric supplier with offices located Taiwan and Shanghai, and China-based Shandong Sunshell Group Clothing Manufacturing Co. Ltd. have developed drirelease Tencel knits. Optimer reports programs are under development with several brands to bring the product to retail.
