Strandberg Engineering Laboratories Inc., a Greensboro, N.C.-based provider of sensors and controls for process automation, has introduced the Nip Check™ Portable Squeeze Roll Pressure Meter Model 8800. The meter employs a thin pressure-sensing film strip inserted between the squeezing rolls to measure the squeezing force applied by padders, squeeze rolls and other rotary pressing mechanisms. It provides multiple measurements side-by-side across the width of the nip, checking the squeezing pressure distribution profile for the entire nip roll. Measurement values are displayed in a resolution of 0.1 pounds or kilograms in an easy-to-read digital format. According to Strandberg, the pressure-sensing film strip can easily be replaced if damaged.

The Nip Check Portable Squeeze Roll Pressure Meter Model 8800 may be used to measure nip pressures on sizing machines, dye padders, extractors, preparation and finishing ranges, laminators, and other processes using squeeze rolls.
