Dansko Announces Healthcare Apparel Line

WEST GROVE, PA -- August 9, 2010 --  Building on its 20 year leadership position in occupational footwear, Dansko LLC is launching a premium apparel line for healthcare professionals. Utilizing high performance stretch knit fabrics designed to move with the wearer, Dansko healthcare apparel is constructed to be extremely soft to the touch and comparable to active sportswear in styling and performance. Included in the September trade launch will be a range of tops, pants, jackets and headwear for both men and women in sizes XS to 3X. Initial retail delivery is scheduled for January 2011.
 
Leveraging strong brand recognition and very high customer loyalty from its footwear business, Dansko will utilize its existing sales force to offer this new line to select uniform retailers, catalogs and web based businesses.
 
With more than 2,500 retail partners worldwide, Dansko grew from a single shoe to an internationally recognized brand by consistently delivering on its promise of all-day comfort. This promise has made Dansko the brand of choice among professionals in such industries as healthcare, hospitality, food service and education whose demanding schedules test this promise daily. As when they introduced their footwear 20 years ago, the privately held company saw a need in the market that wasn't being addressed. They turned to Khyton International LLC, a partnership of apparel design, development and sourcing experts.  The three principals of Khyton possess over 90 years combined experience with premium spa and active apparel brands.
 
"Dansko consistently heard from their customers that they needed apparel that could deliver on the same all-day comfort promise as Dansko footwear," says collection designer LeeAnn Stevens. "We started with materials and constructions that aren't currently used in this market then focused on fit. Now people in the healthcare industry have the opportunity to wear the same type of soft, performance grade apparel used by athletes."
 
Available in a variety of flattering colors and silhouettes, all items utilize technology designed to retain the original attributes of the garment-fit, color, feel- shift after shift, wash after wash.
