Camira: A New Textile Resource For The North American Interiors Marketplace

WEST YORKSHIRE, England -- August 2010 -- An award winning textile innovator, whose fabrics have received a royal stamp of approval, is set to become a fresh new resource in distinctive, innovative, environmentally sensitive upholstery fabrics for the North American interiors sector.  UK company Camira manufactures and markets its own unrivalled range of pure new wool upholstery textiles featuring unique European styling and quintessential British tailored design.  Already hugely popular with global clients outside North America, amassing annual sales of 10 million yards, Camira is set to introduce its unique brand to the North American interiors marketplace through local inventory and a cut yardage service out of Indianapolis, IN.

The Camira mill is located in Huddersfield, England, in the country's woollen and worsted textile heartland, providing unparalleled competence in the design and manufacture of deeply dyed natural wool fabrics.  The fabrics are designed and colored to work in beautiful harmony across broad ranging end-use applications and furniture styles, giving specifiers the freedom to create statement interior schemes using complementary pattern, color and texture.  The depth of product spans large scale designer jacquards in fun-filled cascading circles or eclectic fusion stripes, to complementary plains and textured boucles in sweeping, intensely saturated color palettes.  The company uses the Second Nature label to signal the enduring environmental appeal of its fabrics in terms of raw material choice, product stewardship and sustainable manufacturing.

The US Division of Camira is being established by Director of Sales, Simon Whittaker, a Brit who is re-locating to Indianapolis later this month.  Simon commented: "We're creating a new dynamic in the interior fabric marketplace by giving customers a new value proposition based on our proven European business model.  As a textile manufacturer going direct to market, we control not just quality and service, but also guarantee proper environmental stewardship.  It goes without saying that we have favourable pricing without inflated middleman margins.  We're in the process of appointing a network of sales representatives who will call on both furniture manufacturers and A&D".

The royal stamp of approval comes in the form of a Queen's Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development 2010, signalling the company's enduring commitment to environmental well-being across product design, supply chain management and sustainable manufacturing.
