GlenGuard®FR Fabrics Receive Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 Certification
GlenGuard®FR flame-resistant (FR) fabrics from Glen Raven, N.C.-based technical fabrics
manufacturer Glen Raven Inc. are now certified according to Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 to be free of
harmful levels of more than 100 substances considered hazardous to human health and also
potentially harmful to the environment.
The fabrics are targeted to industrial, chemical, petroleum and automotive racing markets; and, according to Glen Raven, exceed the requirements of the NFPA 70E standard for thermal and body burn protection. Made with inherently FR aramid and modacrylic fibers and without the use of potentially harmful chemical finishes, they provide protection from flames, heat and arc flash.
"We engineered GlenGuardFR to protect more broadly than the industrial apparel market has traditionally expected," said Hal Bates, marketing director, Glen Raven. Remarking on the Oeko-Tex certification, he added, "Not only are we sure that GlenGuardFR fabrics provide healthier protection, but that they can be manufactured in environmentally responsible ways that are safer for our plant employees and our customers' employees."
