TenCate Defense & Tactical - a business unit of Union City, Ga.-based TenCate Protective Fabrics USA Inc. - has received a $13 million order for TenCate Defender™ M fabrics to be used to make uniforms for the US Marine Corp.'s Organizational Gear (FROG) program.

TenCate Defender M Lenzing® FR/para-aramid-blend fabric is the standard material used for flame-resistant US armed forces military combat uniforms. The fabric order, from St. Charles, Miss.-based Propper International Inc. - a manufacturer of battle and tactical apparel for military branches and law enforcement agencies - is the largest single order of TenCate Defender M for the Marine's FROG program. TenCate will manufacture yarn and fabric used to fulfill the order at its Southern Mills plant located in Union City into the first quarter of 2010.

According to TenCate, $115 million in sales of Defender M fabric for Department of Defense (DoD) uniforms have been scheduled in 2009. In addition, DoD uniform programs using UCP Nomex® are expected to total $55 million, including an order for $35 million awarded in December 2008 (See " TenCate Gen2™ Order To Generate $35 Million Of Revenue," www.TextileWorld.com, December 2008). TenCate also has another $20 million order pending.
