Karl Mayer Launches Seamless Smart DJ Warp Knitting Machinery Series

The Nippon Mayer Ltd. subsidiary of Germany-based Karl Mayer Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbH has developed the first model in the warp knitting machinery manufacturer’s new Seamless Smart DJ series of narrow machinery for the production of seamless hosiery, lingerie and other apparel articles.

The DJ 4/2, scheduled for a global launch in September 2008, is a double-needle-bar raschel machine with a 42-inch working width and a 1,000-stitches-per-minute production rate. The new series features two ground guide and two jacquard bars, each configured in two shog lines, to enable the pattern versatility achieved with six shog lines; a jacquard mechanism; piezo technology for jacquard needle control; the Karl Mayer Command System (KAMCOS®) with the Multispeed system; and electronic beam drives. The company sees the new machine series as a supplement to its RDPJ 6/2/ double-needle-bar extra-large-format machine, and has developed it specifically to offer a range of models.

According to Karl Mayer, the DJ 4/2 is a relatively cost-effective solution for its targeted production applications, and can be operated and maintained without the need to have a large workforce — a benefit of particular interest to new hosiery manufacturers.
