Monforts Unveils Tenter Exhaust Air Cleaning System
Germany-based A. Monforts Textilmaschinen GmbH & Co. KG now offers an integrated exhaust air
treatment module for tenter systems. The company reports the new, fully automatic module will help
the systems comply with emission level regulations and reduce energy use.
The exhaust air cleaning (EAC) system — designed by Monforts Group subsidiary Koenig AG,
Switzerland — works with Monforts’ integrated heat recovery system, and both are built into the
tenter’s roof structures.
The EAC system removes up to 100 percent of the dust particles and up to 90 percent of
condensable volatile organic compounds in the tenter’s exhaust air, which passes through the EAC’s
scrubbing system, where the particles are bonded with water droplets. The contaminants are then
separated in a water/oil separator, and some of the treated water is reused in the scrubbing
system, minimizing fresh water consumption.
The exhaust air temperature is lowered to 50°C during the scrubbing process. The combination
of the EAC with the heat recovery system provide energy savings of up to 30 percent, according to
Monforts.
