Invista And OSHA Form Partnership

Wichita, Kan.-based Invista — a global integrated fibers and polymers manufacturer — and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have launched a strategic partnership program in which the companies will work together to strengthen safety and health management systems at seven participating Invista worksites in the United States, including manufacturing facilities in Seaford, Del.; Athens and Dalton, Ga.; La Porte, Orange and Victoria, Texas; and the Applied Research Centre in Newark, Del.

Invista and OSHA will study and share expertise and best practices to help prevent and further reduce injuries and illnesses. In doing so, the companies will create recommendations for ergonomic safety-related management practices and will expand on Invista’s Environmental, Health and Safety Management System, which is in line with the OSHA Voluntary Protection Program’s principles.

“This agreement represents a true public and private sector partnership and marks another step forward in our culture of compliance and value creation,” said Jeff Gentry, CEO, Invista. “We are confident that the partnership will not only be of value to Invista, but we are also hopeful that the knowledge gained will be of value to other industries, as well.”

A team of four Invista managers and three OSHA national and field office representatives will manage the partnership, with duties including determining procedures, evaluating the partnership’s effectiveness, and analyzing data on partnership activities and results.
