Universal Fibers Adds Colors For Recycled Nylon 6,6
Universal Fibers Inc., a Bristol, Va.-based manufacturer of solution-dyed man-made carpet yarn, now
is able to add color to its post-consumer recycled nylon 6,6 fiber.
The company, which last year developed the first technology to produce nylon 6,6 fiber from recycled carpet, originally was able to offer the fiber only in black. Now five new colors are available including Tuxedo, Phantom, Shadow Green, Double Fudge and Chestnut.
Noting the company’s established color expertise and the possibilities the new color offerings open up for its customers, Bill Goodman, vice president, sales and marketing, added: “ Over the past 10 years, we’ve done this with post-industrial content. We’ve expanded to include 66 different color options with recycled product as high as 95 percent. Now, we’re doing this with post-consumer nylon. It will follow the same type of evolution with expanded color capabilities and environmental initiatives for the commercial flooring market.”
