Filtration Specialties To Open Manufacturing Plant In Virginia
Virginia Beach, Va.-based Filtration Specialties Inc. plans to invest $1.5 million to open a
facility in Mecklenburg County in south central Virginia for the manufacture of fiberglass felt for
filtration applications. The new plant, which will be located in an existing facility the company
will modify to suit its purposes, will employ 10 workers.
“Mecklenburg County provides Filtration Specialties with the best balanced choice we
could find for a stable workforce, affordable real estate and excellent infrastructure,” said
Michael Swink, president, Filtration Specialties. “Most importantly, everyone that was involved at
the state and local level always wanted to know what they could do to help us.”
The company may receive benefits from the Virginia Enterprise Zone Program, administered by
the Virginia Department of Housing and Community Development. The Virginia Jobs Investment Program,
administered by the Virginia Department of Business Assistance, will provide training assistance to
the new employees.
