Lectra Education Partnership Program Offers Variety Of Benefits

Paris-based Lectra, a developer of software and cutting systems for soft goods industries such as apparel, has expanded its education efforts with the launch of an education partnership program to offer practical experience with Lectra technologies to students at fashion institutions around the world.

The program offers three levels. Level one offers institutions royalty-free use of Lectra software licenses. Level two offers students internship and career-planning support, and assistance in completing projects. Level three provides in-depth exchange and feedback between Lectra and its partner; and mentoring including the opportunity for students to present their works to fashion industry professionals.

The company has integrated its technologies and know-how — in the form of meetings and seminars, among other activities — into the curricula of more than 660 schools worldwide, and with the new program, hopes to attract even more educational institutions. Level three contracts have been signed with several universities in the United Kingdom, Italy, China and the United States.

“De Montfort University is delighted to be one of Lectra’s Educational Partners,” said Julie King, head of fashion and textiles at De Montfort University, England. “We have used Lectra software for some years now, and can see tangible benefits in developing the relationship further within the Department of Fashion & Textiles, specifically in regard to research, staff and student development.”
