Chicopee Introduces DuraWipe® XTRA Wipes

Charlotte-based Polymer Group Inc. (PGI) subsidiary Chicopee Inc. has developed DuraWipe® XTRA wipes, the first line of products to feature PGI’s Spinlace™ technology, introduced earlier this year at IDEA07 International Engineered Fabrics Conference and Exposition.

According to PGI, Spinlace technology is a highly efficient manufacturing process that incorporates continuous filament with hydroentanglement, and eliminates the carding step. It also incorporates PGI’s Apex™ process, a hydroentanglement-based technology that offers 3-D imaging and enhanced performance characteristics in engineered materials.

The new wipes are comprised of a pulp-based, three-layered material construction that enables them to quickly absorb water and oil while reducing linting. They are compatible with water- and oil-based solvents.

“These strong and absorbent industrial wipes are designed for tough tasks from wiping up oil, grease and leaks to multiple uses throughout the day by maintenance staff performing routine upkeep on heavy machinery, while having a soft, cloth-like feel to workers’ hands and faces,” said Dave Beck, senior director, sales and marketing, Chicopee. “This product, made using our latest nonwoven material technology, answers a critical market need for high-performing engineered materials that provide a superior solution and deliver added value because of their pricing and extended use.”
