Celanese Celebrates Growth In China
Dallas-based chemical company
Celanese Corp. recently celebrated the opening of its 10th global polymer emulsions facility,
located in a new integrated chemical complex in Nanjing, China. The complex will provide customers
with environmentally friendly, high-performance latex emulsions for the nonwovens, glass fiber,
adhesives and architectural coatings markets. Guests invited to the opening took part in a tour of
the facility.
The complex’s acetic acid plant commenced production in June. Emulsions production is
expected to begin by the end of this year. The remaining plants in the complex will begin
production throughout 2008.
“China and the entire Asian region remain an integral part of our strategic growth plans for
Celanese and the emulsions business,” said Doug Madden, president, acetate, emulsions, PVOH and AT
plastics, Celanese. “Our investment in this state-of-the-art emulsions facility as well as our new
technology center in Shanghai, to be completed next year, demonstrate our commitment to supplying
high-performance polymers to this growing marketplace.”
The laboratory in Shanghai will offer industry expertise to customers in the nonwovens,
glass fibers, coatings and adhesives fields.
