Bramco Offers Sweaters With AF&Y's Innova® Yarns

Branded apparel manufacturer Bramco Industries Corp., New York City, has incorporated Chapel Hill, N.C.-based American Fiber and Yarns Co.’s (AF&Y’s) Innova® yarns into its new line of environmentally friendly GTG Green™ sweaters.

Innova yarns are considered environmentally friendly because when compared to other man-made yarns they require low levels of energy to produce, do not require topical treatments for performance, generate the least amount of waste for man-made fibers, and are recyclable. In addition, the sweaters offer such additional benefits as colorfastness; odor, stain and bacteria resistance; moisture management; and quick drying times, according to AF&Y.

“When we first learned about the opportunity to collaborate with American Fibers and Yarns Company to create a yarn suitable for a sweater collection, we were immediately compelled to allocate significant resources in making the product both cost effective and producible at mass levels,” said Brad Barnett, president and CEO, Bramco Industries. “Consumers are becoming much more eco-conscious and are looking for apparel alternatives that fit this category.”

The GTG Green line of sweaters for juniors, contemporary misses and girls will be available at retail in the fourth quarter of 2007. Boys, young men’s and men’s collections will be available fall 2008.
