Pulcra Becomes Separate Cognis Subsidiary

Pulcra Chemicals GmbH, formerly a business unit of Cognis GmbH, Germany, recently became a separately traded Cognis subsidiary. Pulcra develops and markets a number of finishing treatments for textiles including Belfasun, Cyclofresh®, Repellan and Securlana. It also produces additives for the manufacture and processing of man-made fibers, as well as provides products and services for textile production processes.

Pulcra operates facilities in the United States, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, India, Indonesia and China, where last year it invested $5.12 million to expand and modernize its Jinshan facility to accommodate increased demand in the Asia-Pacific region.

“Becoming an independent company enables us to focus more on our core business,” said Yusuf Aktalay, CEO, Pulcra Chemicals. “We will be concentrating on two things in particular: increasing customer satisfaction and maintaining the strong relationships we have built up over many years.”

Pulcra recently highlighted its Cyclofresh Plus treatment at the Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City. Cyclofresh Plus combines cyclodextrins and silver ions into a system that triggers long-lasting protection from body odor by absorbing sweat molecules and releasing fragrance. The Cyclofresh Plus treatment lasts through up to 50 wash cycles, according to Pulcra.
