RefrigiWear Implements New Eton Systems

Dahlonega, Ga.-based RefrigiWear Inc., a manufacturer of insulated protective work clothing, has successfully implemented the Eton 4000 unit production system from Eton Systems AB, Sweden, at its Dahlonega operation.

The 25-workstation system has been in use for six months, and handles all assembly operations for RefrigiWear’s industrial outerwear products.

“With the addition of Eton and the reorganization that it brought, we can now routinely turn custom orders in two days or less,” said Ron Breakstone, president and CEO, RefrigiWear.

The new Eton system also has enabled the company to reduce its manufacturing cycle from two and a half weeks to two and a half days, total assembly work in process to just 200 units, and floor space requirements by 75 percent; and ensures that finished products flow through the Eton assembly line in three hours or less, according to Scotty DePriest, vice president of operations, RefrigiWear.
