Thies Unveils HP Batcher

Thies GmbH & Co. KG, Germany, reports its first high-performance HP Batcher — designed to batch fabric onto dye beams — provides both winding and dyeing technology in one machine, and offers uniform density in guiding and winding of dry, open-width woven or knitted fabrics.

The HP Batcher, constructed of stainless steel, features a state-of-the-art automatic control system including a touch-screen controller that sets fabric parameters and winding tension; proprietary software to ensure consistent, reproducible beam-wound fabric density; automated calculation and display of winding density, batch weight and other basic data; a segmented roller that opens the fabric and positions it for placement on a rubber coated roller; and two spreader rules to enable straight selvages on open knitted fabrics, with a third optional spreader for use with delicate elastomeric sportswear, swimwear, underwear and other fabrics. A motorized docking device also is available to control input of batches weighing 100 to 1,500 kilograms.

Beam diameter ranges from 400 to 600 millimeters (mm), and maximum winding diameter is 1,200 mm for maximum fabric width of 3,600 mm. Winding speed ranges from 10 to 80 meters per minute, depending on fabric quality.
