Web Processing Installs
Line, Develops FT Flocking Solution
England-based specialty textile
machinery manufacturer Web Processing (M/C) Ltd. has commissioned a specially designed coating and
flocking installation in South India. The line is being used to produce flocked fabrics such as
screen-printed, velour and blackout fabrics; flocked blankets; and air-patterned designs.
The line measures more than 2 meters wide by 85 meters long and features a newly designed chain and guide rail and beater bar that can be adjusted to offer working widths ranging from 1 to 3.2 meters. Other features include programmable logic control; fully automatic entry including full-width optical guiding, automatic scray and weft straightener; blade-in-air and blade-over-roller coating capability; a Mondomix VA15 L mechanical foam generator; new extraction and excess flock collection systems; a newly designed air-patterning machine; new calender, baker brushing and cooling unit; and a fully automatic winder with cross cut and doff.
In other news, Web Processing has conducted initial field trials of the Web FT Flocking solution over the last 12 months, and reports results indicate a significant increase in flock density and speed for various process settings. The company will continue trials until ITMA 2007, and on a production machine early next year. The company will install the new solution on future flocking machines, and will develop a kit that can be fitted to new lines and retrofitted to existing lines.
