Briantea Selects Thies HT Jigger
Germany-based Thies GmbH & Co. KG
recently installed a high-temperature (HT), two-beam jigger dyeing unit at Candeggio La Briantea,
an Italy-based, family-owned dyer and finisher of woven fabrics primarily for apparel and home
furnishings markets. With a working width of 4.5 meters, the HT jigger is the largest such dyeing
unit installed in Italy.
The new machine can process rolls of fabric weighing up to 750 kilograms, and operates at
temperatures of up to 130°C and with pressures of up to 3.5 bar. Most cotton fabrics have a dwell
time averaging eight hours.
Briantea also is building the infrastructure to accommodate installation of a complete,
fully automated chemicals mixing, blending and dosing unit; and a highly automated plant for
mixing, blending and dosing of granular dyestuffs — both also from Thies.
In the last 10 years, Briantea has invested between 25 and 30 percent of its turnover in new
equipment and infrastructure. “[I]t is the only way to remain successful and to do so without
compromise,” said Guido Rossi, president.
