HomTex Automates With Eton System

Vinemont, Ala.-based HomTex Inc. has completed installation of its fifth unit production system from Alpharetta, Ga.-based Eton Systems Inc., a subsidiary of Sweden-based Eton Systems AB. The contract and branded bedding products manufacturer has installed the computerized, ceiling-mounted Eton conveyor systems as part of its conversion over five-plus years from manual to fully automated production.

Since completing the installation, the company has increased productivity by 20 percent as the systems reduce nonproductive operator handling and employee fatigue, according to Jeannie Long, general manager, HomTex. The 85 employees at the 99,000-square-foot plant fabricate 25,000 to 30,000 units a week using the lines.
